This will be short – I hear you laughing….
Songs are coming into my mind lately – ones from the 60’s and 70’s, particularly.
I believe it’s because I feel like we are about to come into a time of change – of new beginnings, if you will.
The one that is currently in my head – and will write of others in another post – is “For What It’s Worth,” by Buffalo Springfield, written by Stephen Stills and released in 1966. We often know of this song as, “Stop Children, What’s That Sound.”
I highly recommend you search for this song and listen to it – really listen to it. I was reminded of this song when I recently heard it performed by the incredible band, Marfa, at the Aurora Borealis Festival this past weekend, here in Colorado.
It hit hard, as that is what is happening right now – during Election Week. No one knows what is about to happen, and I’m not going to speak to that.
However, this is another new beginning, no matter what. I also heard tonight that there is no need to worry, no need to be scared, no need to dwell on those negative feelings until we know what happens.
A lesson I learned a long time ago was that worry is an unnecessary, dangerous emotion, of which we have no control over. The better emotions to put our energy into is of belief, empathy, understanding, and – yes – action. ALL done with positive, loving energy.
The song that I referenced hit me because it says – nobody is right if everybody is wrong. Paranoia strikes deep and starts when you’re always afraid. Words to live by, my friends. I found myself yelling, STOP, at the concert.
There is so much happening – in the world, in our country, in our lives – that we just need to stop. Breathe, and remember that we all have the chance for new beginnings. We just need to take the leap of faith and believe we can create new, healthy, loving, peaceful beginnings.
How are you dealing with everything happening in the World right now? In YOUR world? In our backyard? In YOUR backyard?
Let’s be kind, love one another right now (another song), and start our new beginnings.
